Three life sentences were handed down today at the end of the trial held with an abbreviated procedure for a series of Camorra murders that took place between 2008 and 2009 in the Stabia area, attributable to the clan D'Alessandro.
The preliminary hearing judge issued the sentence Antonio De Bellis, accepting the requests of the public prosecutor Joseph Cimmarotta.
Sentenced to life imprisonment Paolo Carolei, Antonio Lucchese and Catello Romano, accused – to varying degrees – of having participated in the organization and execution of several Camorra-style murders.
Among these, the brutal ambush at Carmine D'Antuono, which took place at Gragnano, confessed by Romano himself, who also admitted to having killed the man by mistakeinnocent Federico Donnarumma.
The judge also ordered the indictment for Vincent D'Alessandro, considered to be the top of the criminal organization, and Sergio Mosca: both will have to defend themselves in the Assize Court against the accusation of being the instigators of the murder of Democratic Party municipal councilor Gino Tommasino, killed in an ambush on 3 February 2009The perpetrators of the crime have already been definitively sentenced.
The other sentences were also heavy: 30 years in prison for Salvatore Belviso, a collaborator of justice who was not granted the benefits provided for repentants, 19 years for Raffaele Polito e 16 for Renato Cavaliere, also part of the commando that carried out the Tommasino murder together with Romano.
Carolei, which is not involved in theTommasino murder, was convicted as the instigator and also of the death of an innocent victim of the Camorra: Federico Donnarumma, one of the two people killed on 28 October 2008 in Gragnano.
The real target of the ambush was Carmine D'Antuono and Donnarumma was shot by Romano because he was in D'Antuono's company.
The judge finally recognized the compensation to civil parties, including the victims' families and the Municipality of Castellammare di Stabia. A sentence that hits the D'Alessandro clan hard and marks a new step in the judicial reconstruction of the feuds that bloodied the Stabia territory.

The sentence is very important because it shows that justice can ultimately hit even clans like D'Alessandro. However, there are still many open questions regarding the feuds in that territory and the victims.
