NAPLES – The commitment of the police forces in the fight against drug trafficking in the city does not stop: yesterday afternoon, as part of the extraordinary services arranged by the Naples Police Headquarters, a 55-year-old Neapolitan, already known to the police forces for specific precedents, was arrested for illicit possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
The blitz took place in via Odissea, where the agents of the General Prevention and Public Aid Office, engaged in a patrol activity, noticed a suspicious exchange between two men. In particular, one of the two, in exchange for a banknote, took an object from an envelope hidden behind a low wall, then quickly handed it to the other individual, who quickly disappeared.
The timely intervention of the police allowed them to stop the alleged drug dealer, who was found in possession of 20 euros in cash. During an escape attempt, the man tried to get rid of a package containing cocaine and two pieces of hashish, later recovered by the agents. Inside the bag used to hide the drugs, 19 doses of cocaine were found, for a total of about 10 grams, and 18 doses of hashish, for a total weight of about 63 grams.
The check was later extended to the home of the arrested person, where a purse containing 710 euros in banknotes of various denominations and two cell phones were found, probable equipment useful for drug dealing. The 55-year-old was arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The operation is part of the broader framework of the State Police initiatives to combat the spread of narcotics and widespread crime in the city neighborhoods.
