Stefano Tacconi returns to Naples, and he does it for a gesture of strong symbolic value: to pay homage to Diego Armando Maradona: the former Juventus goalkeeper visited today the historic mural dedicated to the Pibe de Oro in the Spanish Quarters, accompanied by his wife and son Andrea, who immortalized the moment on social media by writing: “Today we celebrate the friendship between two champions with art, creativity and passion”.
Tacconi donated a painting by the Franchi brothers that portrays the famous embrace with Maradona at the end of a Napoli-Juve match forty years ago, decided by a legendary free kick from the Argentine inside the area. Interviewed by Radio Goal on Kiss Kiss Naples, he said: “This morning I honored Diego at the mural. He has always respected me and it was right to honor him. I had wanted to do it for a long time.” The former Juventus number one then revealed a curious behind-the-scenes story: “There was a period in which I was close to Napoli, but with the head I had I said: 'I'll stay here at Juve and win everything'. In the end it went like this”.
On Maradona, words full of affection and esteem: "A person like him is often described differently from how he really was. Diego was full of values, and for this reason I felt the duty to make this gesture." Finally, a look at the present and Conte's Napoli: “Antonio is capable of changing the mentality of every team he coaches. Napoli can easily aim for the Scudetto.”

It's nice to see Stefano Tacconi return to Naples to pay homage to Maradona, but I don't understand why it takes so long to make such an important gesture. Maradona is a legend and deserves more than these occasional events.
