He tried to evade a check by quickly running away at the sight of the police, but his escape was short-lived: last night, the officers of the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station arrested a 25-year-old of Gambian origin, already known to the police, for illicit possession of narcotics.
The young man was noticed while he was wandering around suspiciously in Piazza Principe Umberto I. At the sight of the patrol, he tried to disappear, arousing the suspicion of the officers who promptly caught up with him and stopped him for a check. During the search, the 25-year-old was found in possession of 45 ecstasy pills, for a total weight of about 20 grams, and a 5 euro banknote.
At that point, the police decided to extend the check to the arrested man's home. In the house, hidden inside a closet, further quantities of drugs were found: a small bag containing about 2 grams of marijuana and a stick of hashish weighing about one gram.
The man was arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The operation is part of the activities of prevention and contrast to drug trafficking conducted by the State Police, with particular attention to the areas at greatest risk of the Neapolitan capital.
