Tragedy this morning in the province of Parma, where a man stabbed his wife at the height of a violent domestic argument and, in an attempt to escape, died in a car accident.
It happened shortly before 9am in Borgo Bertani, in the centre of San Secondo Parmense.
According to the reconstruction by the Carabinieri, the man, of North African origin like the victim, allegedly stabbed his wife several times with a knife, seriously injuring her neck, chest and forearms. The couple's children, minors, were also present in the house and – in shock – ran out of the house and attracted the attention of the neighbors, who raised the alarm.
The attacker then got into his car and tried to drive away in his vehicle, but during his escape he crashed near a gas station along the provincial road of Cremona, in the direction of the bridge over the Taro River. There was nothing that could be done for the man: he died instantly.
The woman, still conscious when help arrived, was rushed to the hospital, where she remains hospitalized in serious condition due to the deep bleeding caused by the stab wounds. Investigations are underway by the Carabinieri of the Fidenza Company.
