Benevento – The world of sports in Benevento is mourning the tragic death of Francesco Pio De Luca, a promising 5-a-side footballer of just 17 years old, victim of a serious road accident that occurred last night in Benevento. The young man died at the San Pio hospital, where he had been admitted in desperate conditions.
Francesco Pio was riding a scooter driven by his peer, MZ, also from Benevento, when the two-wheeled vehicle collided with a car, an Opel Zafira driven by PA, at the intersection of Via Napoli and Via Cocchia. It seems that the car was turning at the moment of impact.
For the 17-year-old, a promising player in the regional Under 17 team 'De Vita Soccer' and with experience in a C2 championship, there was nothing that could be done, despite the desperate attempts of the paramedics to save his life. His friend, the driver of the scooter, is hospitalized in red code at the Fatebenefratelli hospital in Benevento, while the driver of the Zafira suffered only minor injuries. The precise causes of the accident are still being ascertained.
Francesco Pio was a student at the Hotel Institute, known for his great passion for football, which he practiced with dedication in five-a-side football.
