At the Spring Musical Meetings promoted by the Walton Foundation at the Giardini la Mortella in Ischia, on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May, the piano will once again take centre stage, with a performance by the young French musician Dimitri Malignan.
Dimitri Malignan
Born in Paris in 1998, at just 19 years old Dimitri Malignan won the Prix Cortot 2017, starting a brilliant career that led him to win over twenty international competitions. In 2020, he won a scholarship from the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe, and in 2023 he was the winner of the Excellence Award of the Franco-Romanian Economic Summit in Paris. His musical education is rich in the teachings of prestigious masters and he performs regularly in France and abroad on major stages.
The program that Dimitri will present at La Mortella
The program focuses on the Romantic and post-Romantic period, with pieces by Robert and Clara Schmann, Brahms, Rachmaninov. In particular, Brahms will perform the Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann op 9, a theme with 16 variations dedicated to Clara Schumann composed in 1854: despite being an early work, the piece shows the composer's extraordinary skill in the technique of variations, of which he will remain one of the undisputed masters.
