A novel of memories and silences
In the book, the protagonist finds himself having to deal with the past when his father dies. The author delicately intertwines memories and regrets, building a narrative that slowly emerges from the silence. The story unfolds like a long emotional monologue, crossing childhood and adulthood with a gaze suspended between nostalgia and unspoken truths.
An award that tells the story of the family
The “Pontremoli” Prize confirms its mission this year too: to explore, through narrative, family dynamics in all their forms. Each finalist work interprets the theme with its own style and sensitivity, offering the reader a variegated mirror of the emotions and relationships that animate family life.
An exceptional jury for a quality selection
The six finalists were chosen by a jury composed of exponents of the literary, academic and cultural world, under the presidency of the journalist and university professor Francesco Giorgino. The selected works stand out for their authenticity, depth and ability to evoke the complexities of family life.
Narrative as a tool for exploration
“These six books demonstrate how narrative is still a powerful tool for exploring the most intimate bonds,” says Nino Sutera, coordinator of the Prize. “The family is told in its many faces: between belonging and distance, fragility and hope, complexity and beauty”.
The family at the centre of society and culture
Adriano Bordignon, president of the Forum of Family Associations, underlines the cultural and social value of the initiative: "Through these stories we can reflect on what it means to be a family today. It is a literary journey that speaks to everyone, restoring the richness of a human universe that concerns us closely."
Public meetings and dialogues in the coming months
The six finalist novels will be the protagonists of meetings, presentations and moments of discussion in various Italian cities. An opportunity to fuel the debate on the role of the family in contemporary society and to promote reading as a tool for understanding, empathy and cohesion.
