From May 25th with a special preview, and then from May 28th until June 1st, Avellino and the municipalities of Atripalda, Cesinali and Lapio will host a widespread, open cultural event, full of meetings and suggestions.
Beyond Art: A Collective Experience
An event that does not limit itself to proposing art and literature, but transforms them into a collective experience: a dialogue between artists and territories, between cultures and generations, with an eye to the future and roots firmly planted in an authentic identity.
The Artistic Director's Vision
“Irpinia Poetica was born from the desire to bring this territory together with the world. Not just a festival, but a project that intends to generate lasting and fruitful relationships, where artists are not just guests, but become part of a cultural community on the move. Irpinia, with its rich landscape and its silent strength, deserves to be told through the eyes, voices and sensibilities of those who make art a bridge between places and people”, says Artistic Director Rossella Tempesta, poet, writer and cultural promoter.
A Deep-Rooted and Visionary Project
“We thought of a cultural event that could become a tradition - goes on - capable of making Irpinia known also for artists who are resident here and who are well-known on a national and international scale. The intent is to create a fertile meeting space between different creative languages, in an accessible and participatory context, where guests become ambassadors of this land in the world. Avellino and Irpinia deserve a true, profound narrative, to be shared with new and sensitive eyes”.
Over 100 Guests from All Over the World
To testify the authority of *Irpinia Poetica 2025*, an extraordinary parade of almost one hundred guests including poets, narrators, musicians, directors, playwrights, coming not only from all over Italy, but also from abroad. Numerous protagonists of the Irpinia cultural scene also stand out and will alternate between the symbolic places that will act as stages for the meetings and events on the calendar.
Symbolic Places of Irpinia Culture
The locations chosen for the event are highly representative of the cultural heritage of the area:
- In Avellino: Villa Amendola, the Irpino Museum, the Provincial Library, the State Archives, Piazza Libertà
- In Lapio: Filangieri Palace
- In Atripalda: the Church of the Confraternity of Santa Monica
- In Cesinali: the Multifunctional Center
A Land that Inspires and Welcomes
“It was Irpinia itself that gave shape to this vision – concludes Tempesta – that of a land that welcomed me with its authentic beauty, the strength of its traditions and the energy of its young people, capable of doing business, art and culture without ever severing the bond with their roots. In the eyes of the Irpini people the green of their land is reflected, and in their creativity, from business to art, a deep sense of belonging is recognized”.
Poetry as Commitment and Gesture of Peace
“Poetry, which I learned to live as a commitment and creation of beauty, taught me that peace is born from humanity and beauty. For this reason I felt the duty to offer my contribution. Not to take up space, but to sit with respect at the great table of Irpinia and celebrate its value”.
Collaborations and Sponsorships
The event enjoys the patronage of the Province of Avellino and the Municipalities of Avellino, Atripalda, Cesinali and Lapio, and benefits from the valuable collaboration of the main cultural associations of the area.
Irpinia Poetica: A Sowing of the Future
Irpinia Poetica 2025* is much more than a festival: it is a gesture of shared beauty, an opportunity to listen, discover and build. Because culture, in Irpinia, is a fertile ground in which to sow the future.
