Naples – A technological security garrison to protect post offices: the new “Security Room” is also active in Naples Poste Italiane, an operations center designed to monitor in real time alarm reports coming from post offices and distribution centers in Southern Italy.
The system has already demonstrated its effectiveness on May 13, when it helped foil a robbery at the “Napoli 33” post office in via Michelangelo da Caravaggio, with the immediate intervention of the police and the arrest of the criminals in flagrante delicto.
Claudio Bosurgi, head of the Security Room function at Poste Italiane, explained how the system works: «Through a widespread network and an advanced infrastructure, we receive alarms in real time from all connected points, which are immediately verified by an operator thanks also to the images from the surveillance cameras. In the event of a criminal event, the procedure for the intervention of the police is activated».
The system is also operational in the offices in Rome, Milan and Genoa, and is part of a national plan to combat thefts and robberies, including explosive attacks on ATMs. "Thanks to these tools," Bosurgi explains, "we are able to prevent approximately 60% of the criminal events that occur at our facilities."
The “Security Room” is therefore confirmed as an important ally in the protection of Poste Italiane employees and customers, as well as company assets.
