Naples – The State Police today executed a custodial order against a man seriously suspected of double attempted murder, carrying and possession of a firearm, with the aggravating circumstance of mafia-related methods provided for by article 416 bis 1 of the Penal Code.

The arrest was made by delegation of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples. The measure is the result of complex investigations, coordinated by District Anti-Mafia Directorate and conducted by the Naples Flying Squad. The episode at the centre of the investigation dates back to the evening of 13 April, when two young people were wounded by gunshots in the area of the "New houses".
Shooting during religious procession
On that occasion, during a religious procession, an argument broke out between women linked to criminal contexts in the neighborhood, due to previous disagreements. The argument also involved the wife of one of the victims, linked by kinship to prominent elements in the criminal association dynamics of the area.
One of the two wounded had intervened to help his wife and, for this reason, had been shot by a man armed with a pistol, related to the opposing faction. The attacker did not hesitate to fire numerous gunshots despite the massive presence of people, including elderly people and children, who were participating in the religious demonstration.
During the shooting, a second individual, not involved in the argument, who was on site for the procession, was seriously injured, losing his left eye due to his injuries.
Investigations and connections with the Contini clan
The investigative activities have allowed us to collect numerous pieces of evidence against the suspect, who appears to be connected to criminal groups composed of very young people and linked to Contini Clan.
