Naples – The Naples Prosecutor's Office has requested life sentences for the four alleged killers of the Miano feud, the bloody clash between clans that bloodied the northern outskirts of Naples between 2021 and 2024.
Giovanni Scognamiglio, Salvatore Ronga, Luca Isaia and Bernardo Torino are accused of the murders of Salvatore Milano and Antonio Avolio, two victims sacrificed in the war between the Scognamiglio and Pecorelli-Catone groups.
Confessions (but without collaboration)
A few days ago, faced with the prospect of life in prison, Scognamiglio, Ronga and Isaia admitted their responsibilities and apologized to the families of the victims. However, none of them agreed to become collaborators of justice, leaving many of the backgrounds of the feud unresolved. Torino, the fourth defendant, instead remained silent.
The two crimes
April 22, 2021: Salvatore Milano, known as “Totore 'o Milan”, was shot dead while drinking coffee in a bar in Milan. According to the prosecution, Giovanni Scognamiglio and Fabio Pecoraro killed him following a tip from an accomplice.
24 June 2021: Antonio Avolio, a young gangster not directly involved in the feud, is shot in the leg and then finished off with a shot to the head while riding a scooter. The original target was someone else: Oscar Pecorelli, known as “'o pastore”, but the killers settled on Avolio, a member of his circle.
The investigation and the trial
The investigation, launched in 2021, led to 19 precautionary measures in 2024, revealing a network of violence and vendettas between clans. The trial against the four defendants is nearing its conclusion: the last hearing with the defense's speeches will be held on June 13, while the first-instance sentence is expected by the summer.
Meanwhile, for other affiliates involved in the maxi-trial but not accused of murder, the abbreviated trial is about to conclude with imminent verdicts.
