Naples – Moments of high tension in the neighborhood Saint Lucia, in Naples, where MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli was reportedly the victim of an assault during an inspection on May 29. The incident occurred while the MP was livestreaming on social media to document the presence of a large electric generator operating on Via Santa Lucia, used to power a restaurant.

According to the MP's own reconstruction, simply recording the broadcast provoked a reaction from the restaurant owner. The man first struck the phone on which the live broadcast was being broadcast, ordering Borrelli to move away, before escalating to insults and spitting. The situation further escalated when the restaurateur threatened the MP and attempted to chase him with a crowbar.

The case of the generator installed on the road

At the heart of the case is an electric generator located on a public road. According to reports, the restaurant's power supply was suspended following investigations that revealed alleged irregularities in its electricity usage.

According to the information gathered, rather than regularize his position, the owner allegedly installed a generator directly on the street to continue powering the business.

According to reports forwarded to the MP, the restaurateur had previously received fines and complaints related to both alleged electricity thefts and the location of the generator.

Testimonies from residents

Adding to the delicate situation are the testimonies gathered from local residents. Some residents reportedly told Borrelli they live in a climate of constant intimidation, fearing repercussions if they decide to report any irregularities.

According to the accounts gathered by the MP, the owner of the club warned several residents of the neighborhood not to file complaints or reports, threatening retaliation against anyone who did so.

The MP's complaint

"What happened to me at Santa Lucia is extremely serious and perfectly exemplifies the culture of arrogance and lawlessness that too often attempts to impose itself on honest citizens. If this situation were to be confirmed, the place should be closed immediately, without further delay," Borrelli declared.

The MP then emphasized the dangerousness of behaviors that, in his view, go far beyond a single attack. "We're not just dealing with someone who attacked me without even realizing what I was doing, but with someone who, using clearly criminal methods, is attempting to threaten an entire neighborhood to protect his own economic interests."

Finally, Borrelli expressed concern that such incidents could occur in a central area of the city. "It's serious that all this is happening in the heart of Naples, just steps from institutions and law enforcement stations. I hope that all necessary investigations will be carried out and appropriate measures taken. Naples cannot be held hostage by those who intend to impose their rules through arrogance, threats, and violence."
