Naples's "good kids" on Via dei Mille have fun throwing garbage bags at them.

Naples faces a growing problem of public order and security during weekend nights. During two inspections on Saturday evening, Green-Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli found serious problems in two strategic areas of the city: Via Dei Mille and Corso Umberto I.

On Via Dei Mille, near Piazza dei Martiri, large groups of teenagers, mostly minors, caused a disturbance by smashing waste bins and throwing garbage and plastic bottles at passersby, resulting in a consequent blockade of local traffic.

Meanwhile, numerous traffic violations have been reported on Corso Umberto I, including dangerous U-turns, reckless overtaking, and minors riding modified mopeds without complying with safety regulations, such as wearing a helmet. These behaviors put both pedestrians and drivers at risk.

Borrelli commented that the situation reflects an ineffective surveillance system during the evening and night hours, exacerbated by a widespread sense of impunity, especially among young people. According to the MP, the solution isn't limited to increased controls, but also requires educational intervention and greater social responsibility, with more families present and stricter enforcement of the rules.

Borrelli calls for a stronger police presence at key nightlife and traffic hotspots, accompanied by immediate fines and measures such as vehicle seizures and driver's licenses, to prevent the city from being left in the hands of those who disobey civil coexistence.
