Nursing Up, De Palma: “Vaccine plan, no need for smoke and mirrors. Immediately give space to ssn nurses who do not perform extraordinary activities”.
Bauction with smoke and mirrors and with the politics of proclamations and self-praise. And above all, enough with the futile game of those who hope to gain greater credibility, in the face of public opinion, by celebrating themselves as the number one country in the EU for vaccines administered. We don't need all this, this "competition" doesn't lead us to any concrete results. The over 70 thousand new vaccinated people in the last 24 hours are not something to be proud of.
We may seem merciless and severe, but mathematics is not an opinion and without an average of between 320 thousand and 400 thousand administrations per day, provided that we start using single-dose vaccines in the next few days, we will never reach total immunization by the end of the year. Commissioner Arcuri himself, every now and then, from the height of his fortress of certainties, seems to waver. In reality the truth is well known, let's not hide it!
There are no nurses to vaccinate Italians. Neither the 27 that would really be needed, nor the 12, decidedly insufficient, that Arcuri hoped to recruit with his announcement.
A plan that has proven to be a failure and that certainly does not need the conspiracy theories of those unions that today, unlike ours, which has been raising the thorny issue for some time, are loudly highlighting, bitterly we say, an issue that is already old. Now is the time to move on. To immediately think of an alternative and concrete strategic plan to find those vaccinators. This is not the time for nursery rhymes.
Thus Antonio De Palma, National President of the Nursing Up Union, emphasizes the need, now urgent, to turn the page. With the broad support of all the forces in play.
But the numbers should be very different from the current ones: with about 43 thousand daily administrations, because this is the average we are traveling on today, it would take several years to vaccinate all Italians. Do we realize? And the health of citizens certainly cannot afford these waiting times in the face of a pandemic that does not give us any respite.
Citizens continue to die, and unfortunately, to date, no less than 250 nurses in Italian hospitals are falling ill with Covid every day.
While waiting for new resources, we need to pay the forces we already have, and pay them adequately: it is the only possible solution. And it would be absurd, it would represent a further slap in the face, if Arcuri were to decide to redistribute the 534,2 million euros of the tender to pay doctors to replace nurses. Their 6 thousand euros gross, compared to our 3077, is already a significant gap, which explains to us beyond any doubt why the number of 3 thousand doctors requested by the tender has been largely covered. But we are used to being hit from behind, it would not be surprising".
