In 2020 (with law no. 155-2020) the “National Day of Healthcare Personnel” was established which, as a civil anniversary, is celebrated on February 20 in memory of healthcare workers who died from COVID 19.
"The date was identified as the symbolic beginning of the coronavirus epidemic that overwhelmed our country in the year just ended. Given the persistence of the epidemic, the commitment of all of us doctors and dentists, both professional and institutional, continues with the same intensity that we have expressed so far" explains the president of the Order of Physicians of Ravenna, Stefano Falcinelli -. There has been no shortage of recognition for this dedication and this celebration fits into this path as a moment of commemoration and sharing.
“There are almost 45.000 professionals and other health actors who, with self-denial and a spirit of sacrifice, have contributed to managing the emergency; many, too many are the colleagues who have disappeared due to the virus in their daily professional practice, we are now at more than 300 and the sad list is destined to grow and increase if we consider the entire healthcare world” underlines Falcinelli.
Precisely to renew the memory of those who are no longer with us, a commemoration ceremony is planned under the direction of FNOMCeO and together with all the provincial Orders on Saturday, February 20 at 10 am at the Roman headquarters of the National Federation.
The ceremony includes moments of reflection and reflection through short readings, a musical moment and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in memory of colleagues who have passed away due to COVID 19.

During the ceremony, a video link is planned with Codogno, a city that is a symbol of the epidemic, where, with the participation of Prof. Frank Montgomery, President of the CPME, representing European doctors, a similar unveiling of a commemorative plaque in memory of Italian and European healthcare professionals will take place at the Civil Hospital.
