During the night, ad Acerra, Caivano, Naples, San Gimignano, Benevento, Cosenza and Syracuse, i Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Naples have executed a precautionary measure, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples at the request of the local District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against 26 suspects (22 in prison and 4 under house arrest, 4 of whom are already detained in prison) accused, to varying degrees, of "criminal association aimed at illicit drug trafficking, extortion aggravated by mafia methods, as well as the commission of crimes relating to weapons, against property and against the person".

The investigations, carried out by the Carabinieri of the Cisterna Castle Company and coordinated by the Neapolitan DDA, were carried out on the structures of organised crime active in the Acerra area and the interests in the sector linked to the marketing of various types of narcotic substances (cocaine, hashish and marijuana).

Two criminal groups emerged during the investigations: the Di Buono alias Marcianisielli criminal group and the opposing Lombardi group, both operating in the large Campanian city.
The investigation started in 2016 has highlighted the criminal operations of the groups “Di Buono” and “Lombardi”, and also allowed us to monitor the organizational dynamics of three distinct "drug dealing areas", activated in the municipality of Acerra in the working-class neighborhoods “Ice Snei”, “Park of the Neapolitans” and “Piazzale dei Martiri”.

The investigation also covered themurder – happened in Acerra on 19 September of the 2015 - of Adalberto Caruso a local criminal (57 years old at the time of the crime) from the “Lombardi” criminal group, committed – according to the investigations – by two members of the opposing group of the “Good” (one of whom accused himself and became a collaborator of justice) decreed by the leaders of the clan "of Good”.

The murder was carried out in a bloody manner: the two killers, approaching the victim on a scooter, killed him with a shot to the back of the neck while the victim was sitting on a bench in the city centre. The episode decreed the end of the alliance between the Di Buono and the Lombardi, allies first.
The war between the two clans has seen numerous episodes of violence recorded by investigators.

On April 13, 2016, an ambush was carried out on Acerra in which a 21-year-old criminal was seriously injured. The episode, as reconstructed, had matured in the context linked to the struggle for dominance over “drug plazas” of the city of Acerra.
Investigators have also documented numerous extortionate episodes to the detriment of local traders (in particular a company operating in the production and resale of concrete; of other active in the steel and environmental remediation sector; of a fuel distributor) by members of both criminal groups.
