In Naples 220 GPs out of 540 administer vaccines. The Medical Association hopes for an increase in the number with the closure of the hub
Of 540 general practitioners in Naples, 220 have agreed to administer the Covid vaccine in their office. A low figure, less than half, in a category from which the ASL expects a recovery also in view of the strong involvement of general practitioners when, shortly, the vaccination hubs of Mostra d'Oltremare and Capodimonte will close and the administration of the doses will be entrusted to the ASL districts in the territory, to general practitioners and to pharmacies.
"I hope – Bruno Zuccarelli, president of the Naples Medical Association, explains to ANSA – that 100% of general practitioners enter the vaccination circuit, because it must become increasingly widespread and because the relationship between the general practitioner and the patient is more of knowledge, not like the non-existent relationship when you go to get vaccinated in the hub”.
Zuccarelli wants a strong involvement that also according to Luigi Sparano, general practitioner, vaccinator and provincial secretary of the federation of general doctors Fimmg as well as councilor of the Order of Physicians, can increase: "I remember – he says – chand there are 196 other doctors who have made themselves available to administer vaccines in the hubs. The number of doctors who administer them today is not a cultural problem. I believe there will be an increase in the number, although it depends on the size of the practice: if I open a vial of Moderna, I have to administer 11 doses in a day, 6 doses of Pfizer, but I am in a practice with five other doctors and we can do it. Other doctors have fewer patients in a small practice and find it difficult”.
