The usual conference to present the film will be held on Thursday 26 May at 12pm at the Italian Pavilion of the Hotel Le Majestic Barriere, during the Cannes Film Festival. During the event, the most evocative images of the International Social Cinema Festival will be shown, which every year brings to the Sorrento Peninsula great protagonists of Italian and world cinema, and the selection of films in competition this year (registrations for the competition extended until May 7 on the website www.socialfestival.com/it/iscrivfilm).
There will be plenty of space for tributes to stars of the past, first and foremost to the great Monica Vitti who will be featured on this year's official poster, but also the 100th anniversary of the birth of Pier Paolo Pasolini and the 50th anniversary of the release of “Totò a colori”, the first scene of which was filmed right in the streets of the city that opens the Sorrento Peninsula.
The festival, divided into 12 sections, both competitive and non-competitive, also dedicates space to works in virtual reality, vertical, made with smartphones, series and web series, commercials, video clips, experimental films, photographs and screenplays for cinema and TV films in addition to the traditional selections for short films, feature films and documentaries.
Defined "the most exciting cinematic event in the world” by actress Claudia Cardinale, is a festival that gives space and visibility to all the works registered thanks to the special “Market” section, regardless of the selection that is made for the competitive and non-competitive sections whose works are screened and/or presented in specific organized events.
Participation in the “Social World Film Festival” offers, to some specially selected works, the exclusive opportunity to participate in international events that in ten years have involved thirty cities on five continents including Los Angeles, New York, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Vienna, Washington DC, Seoul, Busan, Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Paris, Istanbul, San Francisco, Tokyo, Sydney, Marseille, Palma, Tunis, Hong Kong, Jakarta.
