Castellammare, Spanish student attacked and hit on the head by two men, probably with a helmet
On Monday evening, a Spanish student was injured in the head (probably with a helmet) by two men while walking along the seafront of Castellammare, near the Villa Comunale.
The boy, who arrived in Campania with a group of other young students from all over Europe with the Erasmus project, was walking with a girl on the Stabiese seafront when she apparently was the victim of an attempted robbery.
The student tried to defend his friend and was hit in the head for this. The robbers were put to flight by the screams of passers-by while the Spanish student was first taken to the emergency room in Castellammare and then transferred to the neurosurgery department of the Ospedale del Mare where doctors diagnosed a head trauma and monitored him for several hours. The police are investigating the incident.
“More violence and crime on our streets. Once again, the ones who pay the price are the visiting students. This is a topic that needs to be addressed very seriously, the Prefect needs to intervene, we need more prevention for these crimes and more protection for citizens and visitors.” – commented the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
