The deputy prosecutor of Naples, Ivana Fulco, at the end of her closing speech before the judges of the first section of the Assize Court of Naples, asked for life imprisonment for Antonio Felli.
the young man is accused of the murder of 27-year-old Gianluca Coppola, fatally wounded by gunshots on April 8, 2021 in Casoria, and died on May 18, in the intensive care unit of the Cardarelli hospital in Naples.
The same penalty was also requested by the civil party lawyers: the Municipality of Casoria, the Pol. IS Foundation. and the victim's uncle, Salvatore Coppola, to whom Gianluca was particularly attached.
For the defendant's lawyer, the lawyer Dario Carmine Procentese, the motive for the murder “still remains shrouded in mystery. It has always been believed that the gesture had a mafia influence – stressed – which in our opinion does not exist”.
A Felli, who murdered Coppola at the height of an argument, is charged with murder, carrying weapons and making threats. The arrest warrant also charged both the futile and abject motives and the mafia aggravation, which however were later dropped before the investigating judge.
As in previous hearings, he attended the trial via video conference from the prison where he is detained. On July 5, 2021, Felli allowed investigators to find the murder weapon. He handed himself in to the Carabinieri 22 days after the crime, precisely on April 30, 2021.
The next hearing, scheduled for July 14, will focus on the defense attorney Dario Carmine Procentese's speech. In February 2021, Felli's lawyer distanced himself, along with the family, from the videos published on the social network Tik Tok that celebrated his client.
