Eav train used as a private taxi to pick up a group of friends, about a hundred people, and transport them to a private event.
This is the serious complaint that comes, through a press release, from the Eav-Usb Trasporti business coordination. The extraordinary transport would have been organized on the afternoon of Tuesday 26 July. The press release issued by the union reads:
“An extraordinary train has been arranged to take a hundred people to a private party. Yes, you read that right, a private party: it looks like the birthday of a scion of the “Napoli bene”.
The train left Montesanto at 18.56 pm, made only one stop, at Corso Vittorio Emanuele, to pick up the "guests" to the party, who had agreed to meet there at 19 pm, and accompanied them to the Fusaro stop (directly, without intermediate stops), where they were able to noisily celebrate at the Casina Vanvitelliana (and here we believe that even the mayor of Bacoli, so enlightened and transparent, should give some explanation).
Not only that, at 23pm the guests took the same train back to Corso Vittorio Emanuele (and of course, they couldn’t be left stranded…) and from there returned to their homes”.
The union note then underlines that “an event of this kind should cause dismay and indignation, especially on the part of users, who every day have to deal with inconveniences, delays and cancellations – Eav manages the Cumana, Circumflegrea and Circumvesuviana lines, which is often indicated as the worst railway line in Italy, as well as other regional lines.
At this point we would like to know, regarding the transparency promoted by the President of the Region, Vincenzo De Luca, who spoke at the beginning of his mandate of the administration of public affairs as a glass house, how much it cost EAV to operate this private taxi service and how much the company collected.
But, even if we assume that EAV has made money from it (and, we insist, we would like to know), the issue takes on a more than political, ethical aspect: is it right, we ask ourselves, to submit to the will of wealthy and certainly influential citizens when, for the specific role of public service, we should do everything possible to alleviate the discomfort of "normal" citizens and not distract ourselves with similar pastimes? The answer is obvious, in our opinion".
For the private party, as stated in a note from Eav, four special trains were used. The note states that the use of the aforementioned trains is necessary “to allow, on the Cumana line, the transfer, reserved for a group of users, on 26 July 2022”.
