A journey through time to relive the historical carousel with the performance of the 4th Carabinieri Regiment on Horseback, learn about the exploits of the Force and discover the Government Race of Persano.
The Royal Palace of Carditello (San Tammaro, Caserta), on Sunday 23 October from 9.30 to 18.30, will host the sixth edition of Cavalli & Cavalieri, the equestrian event organized by the Fondazione Real Sito di Carditello.
A grand show to the musical notes of the Fanfare: the training unit of the “Pastrengo” Squadron Group will be the protagonist of the final performance, recalling glorious pages of history in a succession of rapid evolutions and complex plots, taken from the traditional figures of the carousel.
“The equestrian event Cavalli & Cavalieri – declares Carmine Basco, technical director of the Real Sito Foundation of Carditello – has a highly symbolic value for the Foundation. It is a historic moment that marks the decisive step in the enhancement agreement linked to the breeding of the Government Breed of Persano in Carditello: from the first phase of growth of the herd, with the aim of safeguarding the Persano from extinction, to the second more strategic phase, dedicated to the selection of specimens for activities intended both for visitors to the site and for competitive initiatives, with participation in national and international events. We are charting a new course to give the right value to the Government Breed, confirming those characteristics typical of the species, such as elegance, running, resistance and jumping”.
During the day, it will be possible to listen to the repertoire of the US Naval Forces Europe Band, the band of the US Naval Forces in Europe and Africa, and participate in historical reenactments, theatrical incursions and special visits dedicated to the horses of the Government Breed of Persano, saved from extinction and raised in Carditello. The only pure nucleus, with the breed brand, present in the world.
“An important opportunity to express our values and confirm the mission of the Foundation – says President Luigi Nicolais, who has been leading the Real Sito di Carditello Foundation since 2016 – promoting historical re-enactments, enriching our tourist offer and protecting the territory thanks to the collaboration with the Command of the Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Units of the Carabinieri, which pursues the dual objective of preserving the genetic heritage of Italian equine breeds and carrying out service activities in a way that is compatible and sustainable with the environment. In Carditello, the CUFA will guarantee surveillance of the extraordinary monumental complex and control of the surrounding areas through mounted patrols that will use Persano horses”.
The 2022 Cavalli & Cavalieri program is particularly rich: from 9.30 am, opening of the Taste area with tasting of typical local products and CardiPony activities with pony rides for children (up to 10 years of age); 10.30 am, institutional greetings; 11 am-13 pm, historical carousel with the 4th Carabinieri Regiment on Horseback; 13 pm-18 pm, special visits dedicated to the Government Breed of Persano; 15 pm-16 pm, extraordinary performance by the US Naval Forces Band in Europe and Africa; 16 pm-18.30 pm, historical reenactment by the Antiqua Tempora and 1st Regiment Re associations, and thematic theatrical incursions by La Mansarda – Teatro dell'Orco.
