“Today we can only stand by the colleague who was brutally attacked in Napoli, showing her all possible solidarity in the belief that her value and courage, together with the closeness of her family, colleagues and honest citizens of this city, will help her overcome this difficult and traumatic moment.
The latest barbarity that plagues the capital, daily in the national news, forcefully brings back to the table a 'security issue' that torments the city and its province, unbearably frustrating the freedom, safety and serenity of the people, hostage to dangers of all sorts and to criminals who seem to lord it over them.
An issue that requires more than ever a strong, direct and concrete intervention, which allows the State to reaffirm its authority, guaranteeing order and legality. The institutions and their representatives, at every level, are called upon to adapt their political and operational choices without ifs and buts to the singular and complex needs of a territorial context that requires extraordinary measures”.
This is what Stella Cappelli, Deputy General Secretary of the FSP State Police, said after yet another serious news story in Naples, where a policewoman was attacked and raped in the port area.
“In the face of such continuous terrible events – echoes Mauro Di Giacomo, Provincial Secretary of Fsp Naples – the first to suffer are the policemen who spend their energies serving the people, well aware that the fight against widespread illegality, delinquency and illegality is often unequal, and that indeed, often, they themselves are the victims.
This is not the first time we have raised the alarm regarding a metropolitan city that presents unique challenges in terms of complexity, variety, and level of violence. It is useless to let 'water pass under the bridge' as if over time we would have to get used to this level of precariousness.
In the Italian panorama, Naples stands out for the complexity of its security management, and we must have the courage to take equally unique initiatives to support its inhabitants and also the uniformed workers who take to the streets every day to fight as if they were going to war".
