Tomorrow, at 20.30:1971 pm, the amphitheater of the Pompeii excavations will be the setting for Max Gazzè's show, who with a group of exceptional musicians and voices will perform a tribute to Pink Floyd to pay homage to the concert film shot in Pompeii in XNUMX.
An immersive show created in collaboration with TIM and Qualcomm that provides the public with advanced Extended Reality techniques and innovative digital solutions based on 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) technology. The result of this mix of music, lights and special images will be a concert-event that in the magical atmosphere of the Amphitheater will project the past into the future thanks to the most modern technologies, creating a union between real and virtual and thus enriching the show with new forms and contents.
The event, of which Magister Art curated the production, OTR Live the artistic direction of the concert and GSNet the technical direction, and of which the TIM Group is the sole sponsor and technological partner, is part of 'Pompeii Echoes'. A format produced by Magister Art, curated by Ernesto Assante and created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film-concert 'Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii' directed by Adrian Maben, which saw the historic English band perform in 1971 at the Pompeii Amphitheatre in a memorable concert behind closed doors.
With this initiative, the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and the TIM Group – by virtue of a public-private partnership agreement – intend to propose innovative forms of valorization of cultural heritage through new fruition models based on immersive applications capable of offering spectators more engaging cultural and live entertainment experiences, with augmented and virtual reality services that exploit the potential of 5G mmWave.
The event can also be viewed in free live streaming on ITsART, the streaming platform dedicated to Italian art and culture promoted by the Ministry of Culture, available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones and tablets. The concert-event will be the reconstruction of a dreamlike journey to the notes of the 14 songs reinterpreted by the musicians; at the same time, 14 virtual spaces in augmented reality, based on the most iconic symbols and architecture of Pompeii, will become an active part of the scenography and will frame the stage, restoring an unprecedented dimension of the historical and cultural context of the Amphitheater.
Thanks to TIM technology, spectators will be able to listen to the music enriched with 3D digital content in augmented reality by simply framing the stage with their smartphone, enjoying an experience that is not enjoyable with the naked eye. Furthermore, from a dedicated area and through 5G mmWave technology, you can enjoy the show with even better performance and quality. In fact, 5G millimeter wave, thanks to low latency and high bandwidth capacity, allows for unique immersive experiences even during events with a high concentration of participants.
Even those who will watch the concert from home via live streaming from the ITsART platform will witness a special show: during the viewing, in fact, a camera equipped with specific sensors for augmented reality will allow the creation of a correlation between digital content and real elements.
