Napoli Obliqua is sold out, with new routes and breathtaking landscapes. Sunday 23 October 2022 – Departure from Galleria Principe di Napoli
Porta Santa Maria ai Monti, the entrance from Ponti Rossi to the Real Bosco di Capodimonte, closed since the post-war period, reopens only for cyclists.
Napoli Obliqua is sold out.
A few days before the event on Sunday 23 October 2022, all available tickets have been sold.
There will be one hundred and fifty participants, coming from all the regions of Italy.
The great novelty of this edition will be the completely new route compared to the 2021 edition which had already fascinated for its ability to show new and various aspects of the city of Naples in a few hours.
The association promoting the event, Napoli Pedala, was awarded for the Napoli Obliqua route, which is among the itineraries collected in the volume of the series “Italia in Bicicletta” edited by Mariateresa Montaruoli and published by La Repubblica and National Geographic.
New this year: discover a green Naples, with passages in unusual and wonderful wooded areas. The first passage, after the departure from the Bicycle House in Galleria Principe di Napoli will be at the Real Bosco di Capodimonte.
Cyclists will arrive from an unusual entrance, that of the Santa Maria ai Monti gate, which thanks to the commitment of the Museum Management, will exceptionally open its doors after decades, solely to allow the transit of bicycles arriving from the Ponti Rossi. Once inside the Bosco di Capodimonte, participants will immediately find themselves near the Giardino Torre, the ancient royal orchard with an adjoining turreted farmhouse, a treasure chest of agro-biodiversity, a very precious place for its historical value and for the botanical rarities it hosts. Located on the north-eastern edges of the Bosco, between the Miano valley and Capodichino, the Giardino Torre remains a rare example of a productive garden present in the Bourbon sites.
Once out of the woods, you will cross the village of Capodimonte to reach the highest point of the route at the Parco delle Colline Metropolitane di Napoli at about 450 meters above sea level. Here you will cross the Bosco della Contessa, among thick chestnut trees on dirt paths and then descend into the Campi Flegrei, and look out over the Astroni crater, with a magnificent view of the islands in the Gulf.
The route leads to the Temple of Serapis, passing through the ancient consular road with a stretch of authentic Roman paving, welcomed by the Malazè cultural review. We will leave the Campi Flegrei, to return to Naples from the coast of Bagnoli, with a view of the islet of Nisida.
There will be the classic dive into the alleys of the city's bowels with the passage through the neighborhoods from Sanità to the Spanish Quarters to Posillipo, climbs and descents to immerse yourself in the oblique dimension of the city, to better understand its morphology, its history, traditions and contemporaneity.
Along the route, there are numerous rest and refreshment points to delight in the gastronomic excellence of our territory, from the snow flake of Poppella, to the wines of Cantine Astroni, to the fish-based sandwiches of the Frescheria and those of the ancient Malinconico delicatessen.
Napoli Obliqua will be preceded by a presentation scheduled for Friday, October 21st starting at 19.00:2.0 pm at the Bicycle House with the screening of the documentary Urbano Rurale promoted by Agritettura XNUMX, which tells through a splendid work of investigation, the urban rural areas, which the bike route will cross. On Saturday morning, instead, it will be the turn of an urban trek to discover the splendid Salita Serbatoio allo Scudillo.
Napoli Obliqua in this way presents itself as a proposal for a zero-emissions tourist experience of the city, both on foot and by bike. The project for the transformation from an event to a permanent cycle-tourist route has already been scheduled by the creators of this itinerary and is divided into a route that will be 150 km long when fully operational, which can be enjoyed over several days through services for cycle tourists, aimed at increasing the number of days spent in Naples and integrating it with visits to the many places of cultural, historical and naturalistic value of our city, as well as walking itineraries of different types.
It is an event promoted by Napoli Pedala, with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples and the III Municipality and in collaboration with the Museum and Royal Wood of Capodimonte, Agritettura 2.0 and Malazè.
All information on the characteristics of the event are available on the website www.napoliobliqua.it
