After an abrupt interruption in collection activities and the formation of piles in some neighborhoods of the city, Asia is awarding the contract to new managers and at the same time taking care of removing the piles.
The emergency recorded in recent days in some neighborhoods of the city, where the cardboard boxes have accumulated due to a sudden suspension of collection activities by the company that managed the service contracted by Asia Napoli, is being resolved.
The company suddenly stopped collecting this type of waste, forcing Asia to intervene in an emergency, sending vehicles and men to remove the piles that had formed in the meantime. At the same time, the municipal company is taking steps to solve the problem in a structural way.
The neighborhoods affected by the disruption are those included in the first lot of a tender awarded years ago.
Plain, Soccavo, Bagnoli, Fuorigrotta, Posillipo, Chiaia, San Ferdinando, Avvocata, Montecalvario, San Giuseppe, Port, Market, Pendino.
The contractor, due to economic problems, was no longer able to manage the contract, leaving the center of Naples without a cardboard collection service for days.
Asia immediately arranged for an extraordinary collection service and is currently dividing the lot among the other companies that manage the service in other neighborhoods of the city.
"We expect to remove the piles in the next few days and return to a punctual collection service in a short time. Engineer Domenico Ruggiero reassured the AU of Asia Napoli. We realize the inconvenience experienced by the citizens of the municipalities affected by the problem and we apologize for it.
The company's debacle has also been contributed to by the significant increase in management costs observed in recent months, which compromises the most fragile companies. We are working to ensure that after this episode, no new interruptions occur. What happened is related to an old tender procedure that is now running out; the new ones will take into account more precautionary elements to avoid the repetition of situations such as the one we are experiencing".
