Moments of fear this morning at the Gandhi High School in Casoria, in via Torrente, where a portion of the ceiling of the school gymnasium suddenly collapsed.
Fortunately, at the time of the collapse, no one was in the immediate vicinity of the collapse and no injuries were reported. However, the episode has generated concern among students, teachers and families.
The Technical Office of the Metropolitan City of Naples, the owner of the school building, intervened immediately and ordered the closure of the entire sports area as a precaution. Structural checks are underway to ascertain the causes of the collapse and evaluate any further critical issues.
The mayor of Casoria, Raffaele Bene, also arrived on site and urged the school principal, Anna Errichiello, and the Metropolitan City itself to intervene promptly.We cannot allow similar episodes to happen again – declared the mayor – rigorous controls and rapid interventions are needed to guarantee the safety of students and school staff”.
The gym will remain closed until the technical checks and safety works are completed. Meanwhile, alarm is growing among citizens about the conditions of school buildings in the area.

It is a very worrying fact that a ceiling collapses in a school, although fortunately there are no injuries. I wonder if checks were made before this incident, I hope the situation is resolved as soon as possible.
