From 16pm today, the Civil Protection Emergency Plan will become operational, which provides for temporary removal from the areas affected by the landslide of November 26.
The ordinance was signed by the prefectural commissioner of the Municipality of Casamicciola, Simonetta Calcaterra. The plan, which was triggered after the yellow alert issued by the Civil Protection and which will last until 16:3 pm tomorrow, Saturday XNUMX December, identifies "red areas", where the preventive removal of the population is ordered and green areas where, instead, the possibility of citizens remaining is ordered provided that they respect the indications, including behavioral ones, given by the Civil Protection.
These last indications are also suggested for the remaining part of the municipal territory of Casamicciola.

Anti-looting service after evacuation
Everything is ready for the evacuation of 1300 citizens of the red zone around where the flood occurred during the night between Friday and Saturday last in Casamicciola, on the island of Ischia.
The police forces will ensure – during the absence of citizens from their homes – the necessary public order and anti-looting activities as well as control of the evacuation of buildings with the support of the firefighters and Civil Protection volunteers. The health facilities, those of the Fire Brigade and the technicians of the Operations Center (Coc) have also been activated for any possible need for assistance to the population.
Casamicciola: the rules to adopt for safety
The emergency plan for Casamicciola requires active collaboration from all citizens who are asked to follow some self-protection measures.
WHAT TO DO DURING WEATHER WARNING
stay informed about the dangerous situations expected in the area and about the measures adopted by the Municipality by consulting the Municipality website and all other information resources made available to citizens; do not sleep in basements and avoid staying there; protect rooms located at street level and close the doors of cellars, basements or garages; if you have to move, evaluate the route first and avoid flood-prone areas; carefully evaluate whether to secure your car or other property: it can be dangerous; share with family members what you know about the alert and correct behavior;
WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF FLOOD
if you are in a closed place, do not go down into cellars, basements or garages to secure your belongings: you risk your life; do not go out under any circumstances to secure your car; if you are in a basement or on the ground floor, go up to the upper floors immediately; avoid using the elevator: it may jam; help the elderly and disabled people who are in the building; turn off the gas in the tank; stay informed about how the situation is evolving and follow the instructions provided by the authorities.
if you are outdoors, move away from the flooded area: due to the speed with which the water flows, even a few centimetres could cause you to fall; quickly reach the nearest higher area, or go up to the upper floors of a building, avoiding heading towards slopes or artificial embankments that could collapse; be careful where you walk: there could be sinkholes, holes, open manholes; avoid using the car.
Even a few centimetres of water could cause you to lose control of your vehicle or cause it to stall: you risk getting trapped; avoid underpasses, embankments, bridges: stopping or driving in these places can be very dangerous; stay informed about how the situation evolves and follow the instructions provided by the authorities.
WHAT TO DO AFTER THE FLOOD
follow the instructions of the Municipality by checking the site before taking any action, such as returning home, shoveling mud, emptying water from cellars, etc.; do not drive along flooded roads: there may be sinkholes, holes, open manholes or severed electrical cables.
Also, the water could be contaminated by fuels or other substances; also pay attention to the areas where the water has retreated: the road surface could be weakened and give way; check whether the gas can be reactivated. If necessary, ask for the opinion of a technician.
