The Salerno Public Prosecutor's Office has issued a notice of conclusion of preliminary investigations against 20 people, involved in various capacities in the investigation into alleged rigged tenders to the Municipality of Salerno for the management of social cooperatives.
The notice, filed in the first ten days of November by the deputy prosecutors Elena Cosentino and Gugliemo Valenti, has been notified in recent days to the lawyers of the accused. Among them is Florence Whore, considered by the Prosecutor's Office Salerno “leader and organizer” of the association that would manage the affairs of the social cooperatives.
Zoccola – already on trial with immediate procedure together with regional councilor of Campania, Nino Savastano – according to the accusation he had maintained relations with political exponents and officials of the Municipality of Salerno “influencing the political and administrative bodies responsible for the successful outcome of the procurement procedures”.
Among the twenty recipients of the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations, the mayor of Salerno does not appear, among others. Vincenzo Naples and the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca. Both, along with 28 other people, are under investigation in the investigation that overwhelmed the Municipality of Salerno on October 11, 2021.
The mayor has been involved from the beginning, while the president of the regional council has received a notice of extension of the investigations for complicity in corruption November 6, 2021. It remains to be seen what the next moves of the Salerno Prosecutor's Office will be for Naples, De Luca and eight other suspects.
