For a long time now, thieves have not even spared churches for their robberies.
And it also happened last night in San Giorgio a Cremano where unknown persons carried out a raid against the parish of Santa Maria del Carmine al Pittore in via Togliatti.
Last night, unknown intruders broke into the church after damaging a window and, once inside, rummaged through drawers and shelves, turning everything upside down.
The church's video surveillance system was also damaged. The incident was reported to the Carabinieri of the local station. The military are trying to recover the images. In the meantime, the damage and the loot that the thieves managed to take away are being quantified.
The news caused quite a stir among the church's faithful who expressed solidarity with the parish priest.
