He steals an unmarked Carabinieri car, then crashes into a New Jersey barrier and runs away, disappearing without a trace.
It happened last night in Naples. The car theft occurred near the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Naples; the perpetrator had tried to break into several cars on the street, until he managed to force his way in and steal an unmarked car of the force.
The search began immediately and the car was found a few minutes later in via Chiatamone, where the man driving it lost control, crashing into a concrete New Jersey barrier.
Investigations are underway by the Carabinieri of the Central Company and the Investigative Unit of Napoli to track down the person responsible, who fled after the crash.
The scene of the theft and part of the escape were captured by video surveillance cameras in the area and for this reason the carabinieri expect to trace the perpetrator in a short time.
