The mobilization of the workers of the plant continues marcianise of Jabil against the 190 layoffs decided by the US company, but as the days go by the hopes of a positive outcome of the dispute fade, also because for now the institutions have not made a move.
After the extension of the redundancy fund to the end of January, which only postponed by a month a negative outcome that seemed obvious - from next March 1st the dismissal letters could be sent also because the redundancy fund, already extended, cannot be further extended - the workers and their representatives were waiting for calls from the Government for possible alternative solutions to the dismissals.
However, no call has arrived, nor have the rumors of a meeting in Rome for the week beginning Monday, February 13 been followed up. At the Marcianise plant, the one-hour checkerboard strike for each work shift continues, but there is an increasingly air of resignation, given what happened at Whirlpool in Naples, where the workers' battles, even more "lively and animated" than those of the Jabil workers, have had no effect and all 400 workers at the Neapolitan site are unemployed.
“Without real support from the institutions, the Jabil dispute will suffer the same fate,” says a worker who is convinced that the layoffs will begin on March 1st, when the redundancy fund expires.
Furthermore, at the Marcianise site of Jabil, workers continue to leave thanks to the incentives that the company continues to provide despite the fact that the agreement with the unions expired a few months ago: in the last few weeks, ten employees, tired of working in uncertainty, have left Jabil taking the incentive of a few tens of thousands of euros, and the company's workforce today is no longer 440 employees, but 430.
