A 40-year-old man living in the province of Caserta was arrested by the Carabinieri, in execution of a custody order in prison, because he was accused of extortion by the owner of a restaurant in the province of Treviso, where he had worked as a cook.
The suspect, with a criminal record for attempted murder, mafia association and escape, allegedly made serious threats to his employer, going so far as to beat him and intimidate his family and collaborators with a knife. He allegedly demanded the payment of 5 thousand euros for having intervened, according to him, in a negotiation for the sale of the premises which then did not come to fruition.
He is in prison, at the disposal of the judiciary. The man professes his innocence and maintains through his lawyers that that was the fee agreed upon for his mediation in the sale transaction even if it did not go through and rejects the accusations of threats and attempted extortion by the owner of the pizzeria.
