“Campania legge – Fondazione Premio Napoli” is the new name of the oldest literary competition in Italy that is expanding its initiatives: it becomes an agency for cultural diffusion and on June 19 it is launching the General States of Reading in its headquarters at Palazzo Reale.
The new president Maurizio de Giovanni announced it: “The written word will be at the center of the activities. We want to bring books to the streets, among young people, and make them understand how reading can become a profession”.
The author of Commissioner Ricciardi and the Bastards of Pizzofalcone anticipates the many new features: “The recognition that is awarded at the end of the year will be one of the many ingredients of the new course”. The initiatives that are held during the year with schools, penal institutions, hospitals become central. “We will do events and incursions of various kinds, involving figures from the world of entertainment, even national-popular culture. Starting from the masterclasses held by the big names that make up the technical committee including the writers Igiaba Sciego, Diego De Silva, Maurizio Braucci and then activities with influencers and booktokers, musicians, youtubers and cartoonists; finally we will launch contests for schools".
For the popular writer “Reading is always professionalizing. You have to explain to kids that if you want to write a film or act you have to read, if you want to make it in music you have to read, and even if you want to emerge on the web, reading is necessary.” Theme: Mediterranean, the call for the 2023 edition has been published.
