The fourth edition of the 'white dinner' organised by the Pro Loco of Cervinara, in the province of Avellino, resumed after a two-year hiatus due to Covid.
Hundreds of people, all dressed in white, young and old, took their seats at the tables, also rigorously white, set up inside the municipal villa.
The dinner, however, was interrupted early after a young man, who had just turned 18 and was not a resident of Cervinara, injured a peer in the arm by hitting him with a glass object, presumably a glass or a broken bottle.
The organizers intervened promptly and separated the two boys: the attacker is being identified by the agents of the Lauro Police Station, while the injured man was transported by the same police, together with his family and friends, to the 'San Pio' hospital in Benevento where he received six stitches.
But in the meantime, tempers inside the municipal villa had become heated and a major brawl had been nearly broken out several times: the Pro Loco leaders then decided to interrupt the event, sending everyone home, “in the dark” and without dinner.
