Avellino, Nurse Attacked in Prison by Inmate

Another episode of violence inside the prison Avellino.

According to the unionist's reconstruction, a common inmate of Calabrian origins left his ward without authorization and headed toward the premises that house the prison's infirmary. The nurse asked the reason for his presence, but in response he was kicked and punched.

He suffered wounds that healed in ten days and were treated at the emergency room of the “Moscati” hospital in Avellino.

The unionist adds that it is not the first time that health and paramedical personnel have succumbed to the spiral of violence existing in prison.
OSAPP National Councilor Emilio FATTORELLO intervenes on the subject, denouncing the lack of due intervention by the Administration, which has made the Avellino Penitentiary the worst in Campania due to the well-known acts of violence and a questionable management that has been denounced several times.

“It has now been about a year since the inspection visit of a Commission sent by the Head of the Department which issued 113 prescriptions of which very little has been done so much so that the situation has degenerated and precipitated.

We have been asking the DAP top brass for some time to assign a Director and Commander who can properly address the critical issues existing in a complex penitentiary reality like that of Avellino, which has over 500 inmates, currently in disarray.

The same Irpina Criminal Chamber, taking note of the unlivability of all in the District Prison, both operators and prisoners, in the person of the President, lawyer Quirino IORIO,, warns with a document dated 31/07/2023 all the Authorities responsible for an urgent examination of the matter, if necessary also announcing a state of agitation if its appeal is not accepted, in consideration of the seriousness of what has been exposed".
