Seven young people from Nocera Inferiore have ended up in the crosshairs of investigations for the violent brawl that broke out last January in Nocera Superiore, when a group of ultras from the Cavese, returning from Avellino, was targeted in an ambush.
The police and the Digos of Salerno are conducting a joint investigation, now focusing on the analysis of the cell phones seized from the seven suspects. The goal is to collect evidence useful for reconstructing the dynamics of the clashes and identifying other perpetrators.
According to reconstructions, at least a hundred people took part in the assault, which also involved police officers.
The episode dates back to last January, when a group of about 100 people, believed to be Nocerina fans, ambushed 14 minivans that were transporting Cavese supporters along via Citola. The Metelliani fans were returning home after the match against Avellino, played in Irpinia.
'The ambush, according to the reconstruction by the Nocera Inferiore Prosecutor's Office, was characterised by the throwing of firecrackers and blunt objects, aimed not only at the fans but also at the police forces who intervened to quell the clashes.
The images from the surveillance cameras have allowed us to identify, at least in this first phase, seven of the alleged perpetrators of the violent incursion. However, investigations are still ongoing to discover the identity of the other participants in the brawl.
Another aspect to clarify concerns the decision of some Cavese fans to deviate from the route recommended by the Police Headquarters, opting to pass through Nocera Superiore, where the ambush took place.
The investigation, which seems to be just beginning, could reserve further developments. In the meantime, the cell phones seized from the seven suspects could reveal chats, photos and videos useful for shedding light on the background of the ambush and the dynamics that led to one of the most serious episodes of violence in recent times in the Campania football scene.

What happened in Nocera Superiore is a very serious event. I hope that the investigations will clarify everything, but I wonder how it is possible that there are so many young people involved in these situations of violence.
