“Black mark” traffic this holiday weekend.
The situation is made more difficult by accidents, the most serious of which occurred in the Bologna area in a tunnel on the A1, involving a heavy goods vehicle and a car, and in which one person died. There are kilometers of queues towards Bologna. Below is the Anas press release on the general situation.
Traffic from black dot for major departures in August. Starting from this afternoon, along the Anas network (FS Italiane Group) traffic is expected to increase constantly. In particular, Viabilità Italia foresees a red dot, starting from today and a black dot in the morning of tomorrow, August 6, with an increase in travel towards major routes.
The red dot will return starting from the afternoon of Saturday, August 6 and for the whole of Sunday, August 7, with heavy traffic for the last departures of this first August weekend. The routes affected are, in a southerly direction, the main routes towards holiday resorts, in particular along the Adriatic, Tyrrhenian and Ionian ridges and at the border crossings towards France, Slovenia and Croatia, and when leaving urban centres and for numerous local journeys.
A significant flow of traffic is also expected near urban centers, especially starting late Sunday afternoon, coinciding with weekend returns. Today from 16.00:22.00 p.m. to 6:8 p.m., tomorrow Saturday 22 August from 7:7.00 a.m. to 22.00:XNUMX p.m. and Sunday XNUMX August from XNUMX:XNUMX a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. the transit ban for heavy vehicles is in force.
The traffic will particularly concern the main tourist routes: the A2 “Autostrada del Mediterraneo” that crosses Campania, Basilicata and Calabria; the state roads 106 Jonica and 18 Tirrena Inferiore in Calabria; the A19 Palermo-Catania and A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorways in Sicily
State road 131 Carlo Felice in Sardinia; State road 148 Pontina in Lazio, a particularly busy artery which, together with the SS7 “Appia”, ensures connections between Rome and the tourist resorts of lower Lazio; Route E45 (SS675 and SS3 bis) which passes through Umbria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and connects the north-east with central Italy; the SS1 Aurelia (Lazio, Tuscany and Liguria), SS16 Adriatica (Puglia, Molise, Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto) routes.
Finally, in the north, the RA13 and RA14 motorway junctions in Friuli Venezia Giulia towards the border crossings, the SS36 of Lake Como and Spluga in Lombardy, the SS45 of Val Trebbia in Liguria, the SS26 of the Valle D'Aosta and the SS309 Romea between Emilia Romagna and Veneto and the SS 51 of Alemagna in Veneto.
With the aim of facilitating travel and reducing inconvenience for users and in anticipation of the increase in traffic flows, Anas has proceeded to remove, starting from 8 July and up to 4 September, over 500 construction sites, more than half of those previously active (over a thousand), with the aim of offering a more comfortable and safe journey, not only for short and medium-range journeys, but also for long-range ones.
The reduction of Anas roadworks is part of the Plan agreed and promoted by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility (Mims). For the situation of immovable roadworks, Anas invites travellers to consult the stradeanas.it website in the section Traffic information/Intervention plans (link www.stradeanas.it/piani-interventi) before setting off.
Under the 24-hour supervision of the National Situation Room, 21 territorial Operations Rooms (24 and 12 hours) operate, including that of the A2 “Autostrada del Mediterraneo”, which operates alongside the Highway Police. On the road and motorway network, in rotation, there are approximately 2.500 workers for surveillance, emergency response, assistance to users, coordination of technical and management activities.
The staff has over 2.000 vehicles at its disposal, of which 1.100 are equipped with cameras, 1.234 variable message signs and 6230 fixed cameras.
