Flags, a banner, applause and chants from the fans for the last farewell to Carletto Mazzone, former Juventus coach, unforgettable leader of many teams in Serie A, with its almost 800 benches including the one in Roma, who died on August 19th at the age of 86. The coffin of Mazzone, made of light wood with a crown of red roses on top, accompanied by his family, was welcomed at the entrance of the Church of San Francesco in Ascoli by various authorities including the mayor of Ascoli Marco Fioravanti and the president of the Region Francesco Acquaroli.
Above the coffin, in the church, were placed the shirts of some teams that Mazzone led, including Brescia. Lots of applause inside and outside the church where a crowd of fans, especially from Ascoli, where Mazzone lived with his family and of which he was an honorary citizen, cheered Carletto Mazzone, waving flags and chanting his name.
Among those present at the funeral were a delegation from Cagliari, represented by the technical coordinator of the Primavera, Roberto Muzzi, a former player of Mazzone, and various coaches including Serse Cosmi, Walter Novellino and Enrico Nicolini. The ceremony was concelebrated by Bishop Gianpiero Palmieri and Archbishop Emeritus Piero Coccia.
At the funeral ceremony for Carletto Mazzone in Ascoli, among others, were the president of Brescia Massimo Cellino, the former Azzurri goalkeepers Gianluca Pagliuca and Giovanni Galli, the former Perugia defender and coach Alessandro Calori, Roberto Muzzi, a former Mazzone player, technical coordinator of the Cagliari youth team, the entire Ascoli team led by coach William Viali and president Carlo Neri, and coach Fabrizio Castori.

The Ascoli fans raised a large flag with a large photo of Mazzone, fist in the air and the writing in dialect: “Carlé, you have to win.”
On the barriers, next to the church, the fans hung a banner with the words: “tough by birth, Ascoli by choice”. After the funeral, on a giant screen next to the church, some archive footage of Mazzone's exploits in Ascoli and Ascoli president Costantino Rozzi, to whom he was inextricably linked, are being shown to hundreds of fans. Carletto Mazzone had received honorary citizenship from his adopted city, Ascoli, which was awarded last October 30 at the Ventidio theater in Ascoli, mister Mazzone's last public appearance.
