The State Police in fact executed a custodial detention order issued by the GIP at the Court of Napoli at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate against Mariano Cangiano, considered to be seriously suspected of collusion with Giovanni Strazzullo, Gennaro Ruggiero, Armando Mastroianni and Emanuele Mastroianni of Camorra-style association, carrying and possession in a public place of common firearms, firing of gunshots and extortion, all aggravated also by the mafia methods provided for by art. 416 bis 1.
The measure was issued following investigations conducted by the Flying Squad and the San Ferdinando Police Station in relation to the nascent criminal group led by Giovanni Strazzullo alias 'o kikk, who established himself in the Riviera di Chiaia area with sensational and violent actions, as an offshoot of the criminal gang called “Secondigliano Alliance”.
In July, the criminal group was responsible for armed raids involving gunshots in the “Torretta di Chiaia” neighborhood and extorted money from illegal parking attendants in the Mergellina waterfront area, also threatening them with weapons.
In particular, on September 3, in order to intimidate one of the parking attendants, the suspects did not hesitate to use a machine gun, brandished while they were speeding through the streets of the city center, a circumstance which, among other things, led to the issuing on September 9 of an arrest warrant for the crime of suspicion against Giovanni, known as “O'Kikko”, Gennaro Ruggiero, Armando Mastroianni and Emanuele Mastroianni and Gennaro Ruggiero.
The first four suspects were arrested on September 4 and 9, while Cangiano had been untraceable until yesterday, when he was tracked down at the home of a family member.
