The Court of Appeal of Salerno has confirmed the 13-year prison sentence for Rosa Della Corte, nicknamed “the mantis of Casandrino,” for the attempted murder of a prison police officer that took place in the Potenza prison in 2015.

The episode dates back to December 2015, when Della Corte, detained in the prison of Potenza, together with Yesenia Veronica Gambino, attacked the officer with a knife, wounding him in the hand. In the first instance she had been convicted by the Court of Appeal of Potenza.
Della Corte, 46, is known to the news for killing her boyfriend Salvatore Pollasto in 2003, when she was only 22. For this murder she was sentenced to 18 years in prison, which she has already served.
The Court of Appeal of Salerno also confirmed the 13-year prison sentence for Yesenia Veronica Gambino, the Neapolitan prisoner who was with Della Corte at the time of the attack. Gambino, who in the meantime has changed identity becoming Angelo, reported that he had communicated the change of identity to the registry office.
In 2014 she escaped from the Lecce prison
In 2014, Della Corte escaped from prison in Borgo San Nicola of Lecce during a day release. She was then tracked down two weeks later in Anzio, in the company of her new boyfriend. The trial for the escape is still ongoing at the Court of Lecce.
