“The process for the Day of Celebration of the Neapolitan ragout which will fall on the third Sunday of November each year.

The aim of this Day, through the initiatives promoted by Institutions and associations, is to preserve one of the most popular Neapolitan and Campanian traditions, which represents the symbol of territorial identity and bears witness to a cultural model whose cornerstone is the family. We have the duty to consolidate these values ​​by passing the baton to future generations”.

Thomas stated this Pilgrim, leader of Italia Viva in the Regional Council, signatory of the proposed law that aims to recognize the right tribute to the traditional Campanian dish, during the press conference held today in the Sala Caduti di Nassiria of the Campania Regional Council.

“A Casa Surace Neapolitan ragù was and is the symbol of what we tell. It is a traditional dish to preserve but also a symbolic dish that tells of family unity, the time to dedicate to those we love, our Southern dialect. In that tasty "pippiare" there is so much of our History.

It is no coincidence that it is a key dish in many films and many beautiful comedies of our tradition. In our Surace family, ragù has always been associated with an equally symbolic figure: grandmother Rosetta, listened to by everyone who used ragù to give affection to her loved ones.

All these elements have had a great impact on the people who follow us. It would be nice to enclose all these feelings in an “institutional” day during which the attention to Neapolitan ragù becomes an opportunity to meet with the family and support and pass on to the younger ones such an important dish, rich in history and stories. This is why we thought together to start this journey!”
