“We must save Port'Alba and Piazza Dante at all costs, priceless treasures of our city, which are seriously at risk of being overwhelmed by an unprecedented wave of degradation, neglect and abandonment.
For this reason we have decided to organize a White Night on Friday 17 November, involving not only shopkeepers, booksellers and residents, but all Neapolitans who must take to the field to defend the artistic, historical and cultural beauty of these places.
The aim is to raise awareness among institutions and private individuals to restore the historic arch, giving it back the decorum it deserves and to protect the pedestrian area that extends across the entire square up to Port'Alba from the constant raids of scooters and the uncivilised behaviour of those who abandon rubbish without any restraint.
We have been reporting for some time the worrying conditions of the square, especially on busy weekends, when pedestrians are literally surrounded by hordes of scooters competing in speed and stunt races on two wheels among the tables of local bars, strollers and children playing in the pedestrian area.
A potentially dangerous situation that has become unsustainable and for which a decisive and decisive response from the administration and the entire community is needed".
These are the words of the deputy of the Green Left Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli who this morning went to Piazza Dante to sign the manifesto "Let's save the arch and the road of Port'Alba from degradation" and launched the proposal for the White Night together with the entrepreneurs and traders of the area Alfredo Mazzei, Pasquale Langella and Fabio Amodio.
