Last night in Calvi Risorta, in the province of Caserta, doctors and nurses were brutally attacked with kicks and punches by a psychiatric prisoner who had returned to the Rems (residence for the execution of security measures), in a state of drunkenness.
One of the nurses who was the victim of the violence had to seek treatment from colleagues, receiving a five-day prognosis. The incident was reported by the association “Hands Off Hippocrates” Your Facebook.
According to the association's post, one of the patients/inmates returned to the facility drunk, showing clear signs of agitation. The doctor on duty decided to call the police and 118 for compulsory medical treatment (TSO). When the police arrived, the patient calmed down and agreed to undergo therapy.
However, once the paramedics and carabinieri left the facility, the inmate began to unleash himself, throwing stones at staff cars and hitting nurses and doctors with kicks and punches. One of them was given a 5-day prognosis.
The association “Nessuno Tocchi Ippocrate” also explained that Rems, in Italy, indicates a health facility dedicated to the reception of criminals affected by mental disorders, considered socially dangerous.
The internal management is under the exclusive health competence, belonging to the Mental Health Department of the competent ASL, even though the structure is connected to the Carinola prison.
