The fifth edition of the national literary event, promoted by the Melagrana Association and curated by Edizioni Melagrana, has reached its final stages.
This edition has seen a notable growth in the number of participants, which shows a growing trend edition after edition, a sign of the importance that the Melagrana Award is assuming.
The published and unpublished novels, the unpublished stories and poems, as well as the youth essays dedicated to schools, were received and selected by the large audience of evaluator readers and finally evaluated by the qualified and attentive jury, chaired by Rino Malinconico, philosopher and writer.
This year there are five competition sections: Published novels; Unpublished fiction; Unpublished stories; Poetry; Youth essays dedicated to high school students and inspired by the figure of Alessandro Manzoni on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his death.
As usual, in addition to the awarding of prizes to the finalists of the literary competition, the Melagrana Association will assign the Special Mentions, prizes intended for personalities, associations or entities, which have distinguished themselves for their social commitment in supporting vulnerable people, for their determination in defending justice for the last, for having taken a stand in defense of common goods, against any form of discrimination.
The Special Mentions are intended to be a recognition for all those figures who in some way are similar to the vision of Melagrana, which consists in the creation of Peace and a better possible world. For the 2023 edition, it was decided to give particular importance to the themes of the migrant issue and the fight against gender violence. Therefore, the Special Mentions will be assigned to: Fondazione Una, Nessuna, Centomila; Associazione Sine Fine; La Maschera; Movimento Migranti e Rifugiati di Caserta; Matteo Garrone.
During the evening, curated by the artistic director Ciro Castaldo (author of Martini Cocktail and Giancarlo Bigazzi, the craftsman of the song, published by Edizioni Melagrana), nationally famous artists will perform: Mariella Nava, author of numerous musical successes, and DevilA, an emerging talent of modern pop/rap music.
Access will be free and open to all until the maximum capacity allowed by current regulations. So, see you on Tuesday, January 16th for an evening dedicated to good literature, good music and social commitment.
