Giuseppe Palumbo, a 35-year-old fugitive boss from the city of Taranto, was arrested by law enforcement as he was about to board a flight to Spain at the airport in Capodichino.
The man was the subject of two precautionary custody orders issued by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate: one in 2022 for the crime of possession for the purpose of dealing in narcotics, and the other in 2023 for the crimes of association for the purpose of drug trafficking and fraudulent transfer of assets.
The investigations concerning him involve members of the Pascali clan of Taranto and Sudoso clan of Statte. In addition, Palumbo had to serve a 3-year prison sentence for possession and dealing of narcotics, on which there was a prison order issued by the Court of Taranto.
The operation was coordinated by the DDA of Lecce. After the arrest, Palumbo was transferred to the Poggioreale prison in Naples.
