Rock-clearing operations continue at a rapid pace on the stretch of the Amalfi Coast State Road 163, closed two nights ago following the detachment of a block of stone from the rocky ridge. The closure order, issued by Anas (National Roads Authority), triggered an immediate series of interventions aimed at restoring the road's safety.
“The work in progress represents a subsequent phase to the technical surveys carried out on site yesterday,” explain the mayors of Piano di Sorrento, Salvatore Cappiello, and of Positano, Giuseppe Guida. “With this in mind, the designer identified the geotechnical engineering interventions necessary to eliminate the condition of imminent danger.”
The safety works are concentrated near kilometre 7 of State Road 163 and are proceeding in close collaboration with the regional Civil Engineering Department. “All the entities involved are aware of the significant daily inconveniences that citizens are experiencing. Maximum efforts are therefore being made to ensure that normal conditions can be restored as soon as possible,” the mayors add.
