Technical surveys are underway to define the interventions necessary to secure the road Highway 163 Coast, in the stretch at the height of the municipality of Piano di Sorrento, where yesterday a landslide.
The stone block that broke away from the ridge above the state road was held by protective nets, thus preventing it from falling onto the roadway. However, during further checks, the presence of other unstable stone materials was detected.“This phase will allow us to clarify the technical methods of intervention and, in collaboration with the regional Civil Engineering Department, we will receive estimates on the timing,” explained in a joint note the mayors of Piano di Sorrento, Salvatore Cappiello, and Positano, Giuseppe Guida.
"The work will be carried out with extremely urgent procedures. The intervention, contrary to first impressions, could prove to be significant, which, if confirmed by the surveys, will inevitably affect the reopening times of the road. We are committed, each for our own roles and responsibilities, to securing the area and reopening the road to traffic as soon as possible."
