A large forest fire broke out this afternoon on the Camaldoli hill in Naples. The flames, visible from kilometers away, threatened some residential areas, but thanks to the timely intervention of the firefighters, no damage was caused to people or buildings.

Firefighter teams, including with the help of aircraft, have worked tirelessly to put out the flames. Firefighting operations are still ongoing and the flames are visible for miles around.
The ash spread throughout the neighborhoods of Soccavo, Pianura, Fuorigrotta, even reaching the city center.
Although the fire was started intentionally, as confirmed by ongoing investigations, it did not pose an imminent danger to residential areas.
The mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, reassured citizens about the situation, underlining the commitment of the police and firefighters to contain the fire.

Mayor Gaetano Manfredi on X writes: “In constant contact with the prefect and the VdF for the fire that hit the hill ofthe Camaldoli".
"At the moment, thanks to the timely intervention, the fire does not threaten the inhabited areas. Tonight teams were left on guard and tomorrow aerial extinguishing operations will resume."

The prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, also went to the site of the fire that broke out late this evening in Naples on the Camaldoli hill.
At the same time, the prefect activated the rescue coordination center to monitor the evolution of the situation and is meeting with the leaders of the teams that arrived to put out the flames.
